Cumberlander

A periodical about business, residents of the city, and significant events through the eyes of local entrepreneurs.

Why do we decide to start that Jornal?
a few thoughts about this project and its authors
My name is Roman Morozov, I am an entrepreneur from Washington DC who moved to Cumberland not so long ago and is developing the Dacha luxury hotel here. Even at the design stage of my mini-hotel, I thought about what was missing in Cumberland? It soon became clear that the local business has excellent, sometimes unique competencies, products, or services but does not know how to convey them to customers.
This problem is especially acute in the tourism industry. Cumberland is a unique place with a fantastic history, but in the shadow of lesser-known but better-promoted cities in the US, including in his native Maryland. Annapolis is a prime example of this. 1-2 hours by car - and you are in a place where delicious food and beautiful views are around. Everyone knows that this is a weekend tourist mecca for residents of DC. At the same time, a vast majority of people simply do not know what to do and how to relax in our beautiful mountains and restaurants; what sights are there, and how they help to understand the history of the country and its people.
I decided to create this small magazine so that local entrepreneurs could tell about themselves not only to my hotel guests but also to everyone on the Internet, attracting tourists and reviving the once majestic and beautiful city - Gateway to the West, as it was called before.
